Getting set up, and unstuck.
A short path to your first show file, answers to the questions we hear most, and a direct line when you need one.
Getting started
Four steps from install to a running cue list:
- Install from the App Store or the Microsoft Store
- Create a cue list and add your first cue
- Sign in on additional devices to share the list
- Run an audio check in the room before doors
Building a cue
Each row in the cue list is one call. Fill in the parts you need and leave the rest alone:
- Text — the line that gets spoken when the cue fires
- Timecode — the position the cue fires at, or blank for a manual GO
- Play — audition the call without advancing the show
- Run — execute the cue's script alongside the spoken call
Save the finished list as a show file so the same run can be reopened in another venue or on another platform.
Timecode and scripting
Firing on timecode
Give a cue a timecode position and it fires when the clock reaches it. The clock can run internally or lock to an external timecode source, so the running order follows the show rather than the operator.
Sending to the rig
Any cue can embed Lua that sends OSC, Art-Net, MIDI, or UDP at the same instant the call is spoken. A d3 (disguise) module ships built in, and a grandMA3 module is in development.
Frequently asked questions
Which platforms are supported?
Show Caller AI runs on macOS, iOS, and Windows. Cue lists sync across signed-in devices.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once a cue list is on the device, the show runs without a network. Changes sync the next time you come online.
Is there a cue limit?
No. Create as many lists and cues as your production needs.
Can a team share a cue list?
Yes. Share a list and everyone on the show receives the same calls at the same time.
Troubleshooting
If something is off, start here:
- Update to the current version
- Check audio output and permissions on the device
- Confirm the network connection if cues are not syncing
- Confirm the external timecode source is running if timed cues do not fire
- Relaunch the app if a cue does not fire as expected
